We welcome the splendid organist Renée Anne Louprette, who has established an international career as organ recitalist, accompanist, conductor, and teacher. The Diapason has called her “excellent – technically assured, highly articulate, and musical…  The Irish Times noted that she is a “communicative player with no shortage of imaginative ideas, with fingers fully capable of backing them up, and with feet which are not just nimble on the pedals, but every bit as expressively articulate as her fingers.”   Free-will donation

A Candlelight Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols
with the South Church Chancel Choir

Under the direction of Interim Music Director Dr. Kari Miller, the South Church Chancel Choir presents the beloved Candlelight Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols Festival. Nine readings from Scripture, Advent and Christmas anthems, and congregational carols are interspersed throughout. A reception follows.  Free-will donation

 Fine chamber music continues with our favorite pianist David Westfall and the South Church Chamber Music Society.  Violinist Peter Winograd and cellist Wolfram Koessel, join Dr. Wsetfall for Beethoven’s Piano Trio No. 7 in B-Flat Major, Opus 97 (“Archduke”) and Ravel’s Piano Trio in A Minor. “Upon This Rock”

Transcendent prayers of thanksgiving and consolation, psalms of happiness and paeans of praise, music that has comforted and confounded saints and sinners alike for as long as spirituality and music have gone together. Chanticleer’s  men’s voices sing works  of Victoria, Poulenc, Palestrina, di Lasso, Weelkes, and Morley, as well as traditional American spirituals and folk hymns. Also features the world premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner John Harbison’s Psalm 116, his first composition for Chanticleer,

Their  New Britain program will include Haydn’s String Quartet Opus 76 no. 5, Janacek’s String Quartet No. 2 (“Intimate Letters”) and, with pianist David Westfall, Schumann’s Piano Quintet in E-Flat Major. A free-will donation will be received, and a reception will follow the concert.
